Subramanian Tamil Selvan is the Co-founder, Chief Technology Officer and Chief Scientist of Alpha BioMedical. Dr. Selvan is an experienced scientist in nanobiotechnology – mainly in the synthesis of a variety of nanoparticles, nanocomposites, polymers for a wide range of biological applications ranging from cancer diagnosis to stem cells labelling and therapy. He has gained a wealth of research experience in different countries – India, Germany, Japan, Australia, Singapore, and South Korea. He is the recipient of prestigious Humboldt (Germany) and JSPS (Japan) Fellowships. He has worked at the School of Chemistry, University of Melbourne, Australia for 2 years, before heading to Singapore in 2003.

Prior to this, he was a Senior Fellow at the LKC School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore (2019-2020), Visiting Professor at Myongji University, and Korea Institute of Science and Technology, under the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Brain-Pool Visiting Scheme (2017-2018). Earlier, he worked as a Senior/Principal Scientist at A*STAR Singapore – Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (IBN) and Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE) for over a decade (2003-2016). In his capacity as an Adjunct Associate Professor, he taught “Advanced Nanomaterials/Biomaterials” to Undergraduates, Masters, and Ph.D. students from different disciplines at the School of Biomedical Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS) for 4 years (2011-2015).

Dr. Selvan has been serving as an Editorial Board Member of Scientific Reports (Nature Publishing Group), and Nanomaterials (MDPI). He has authored/co-authored over 100 publications and 2 books with a citation index of over 6700 and an h-index of 37. He is an inventor/co-inventor of 7 awarded patents (5 USA, 1 Europe, and 1 Korea) and several patent applications on nanomaterials for cancer cells and stem cells labelling. He has organized several international conferences in Singapore, USA and delivered numerous invited presentations at international conferences worldwide.

Currently, his research is focused on the development of early cancer diagnostic kits and cell-based therapies for liver, colon, and breast cancer. His research interests span a wide range of areas from stem cells, exosomes to immunotherapy (NK cells) for treating cancer, autoimmune disorders, and infectious diseases.
